Beginning
The Organization began as a local community ‘grass roots’ initiative serving Miami, Dade County and the Dade County Schools. Founded by Jose Rivas, Its initial programs began with Coastal Clean Up events sponsored by the Organization in response to the encroachment of pollutants into beautiful Biscayne Bay. This is one of the reasons, Rescue Earth decided to make Miami its home and the central hub of its sustainable revolution.
The First Steps
In addition to Coastal Clean Up programs, the Organization has become involved with inner city projects supporting underprivileged at risk children. The kids have been introduced to programs such as islands restoration, replanting of indigenous trees, such as our Red Mangrove species, which are endangered and draw the very fine line between water and land. Rescue Earth has pioneered sports programs and general education through self-esteem building exercises initiated to educate children regarding personal growth. Each program had a environmental directive with lessons on local flora and fauna loss, land erosion due to wetland destruction, wildlife awareness, pollution, and general enviromental awareness.
Present Partnerships
Rescue Earth has formed a partnership with the Miami-Dade County Health Department through the great efforts and leadership of Dr. Elmir, Head of the EPA of Dade County and Mr. Bobby Glass, the head of the departments Green Team. We are acting as a consultancy for their recyclying program as well as other Green Initiatives.
One Giant Leap
Rescue Earth continues its partnership with Miami Dade County Schools in creation of agricultural, waste/composting, and general recycling curriculum. This curriculum will be fostered by a self sustaining profitable programs that perpetuate its top directive, to educate the youth on sustainable initiatives while creating opportunities for our future Green leaders.
