Rescue Earth .org was founded in Miami, Florida in 2000.

The Organization began as a local community ‘grass roots’ Organization serving Miami, Dade County and the Dade County Schools. Its initial programs began with Coastal Clean Up events sponsored by the Organization in response to the encroachment of pollutants in the beautiful Ocean and Biscayne Bay which flank our coastline, our islands and exists as a bridge between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Today the Caribbean is home to 22 island territories and borders 12 continental countries. Miami as a young emerging global hub less than 100 years old has become home to more than 452 cultures of diverse people from Central + South America as well as the Caribbean + Bahamian Islands + now further, an entire global community.

In addition to Coastal Clean Up programs, the Organization became involved with inner city projects with underprivileged children at risk and introduced them to programs created for Islands Restoration Projects + Replanting of Indigenous Trees, such as our Red Mangrove species here, which are endangered and draw the very fine line between water and land. Programs were initiated to educate children regarding the loss of local flora and fauna. Additionally Rescue Earth is affiliated with the Miami All Stars, Jr. NBA.

On land, only 30 Florida Panthers are thought to still survive + on water, loss of habitat has reduced the Manatee population to 2,500 since records began with the foundation of the Everglades National Park in 1947 and the Perry Marine Institute founded in 1970 and afterwards the Perry Institute for Marine Science (PIMS) .

Along with the Technology Panel of the newly established Marine Science Commission (1968 to 1970), Perry was appointed to chair of the commission in 1968 by President Johnson. John Perry was instrumental in the creation of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), charting a course for the use, development and exploration of the oceans for the United States. Upon completion of the work of the commission, John Perry founded the Perry Institute for Marine Science, Inc. toward the fulfillment of these new national goals and dedicated his Bahamian island as a major research base.

In 1984, the Perry Institute for Marine Science created the Caribbean Marine Research Center (CMRC) to address the critical issues associated with escalating environmental degradation as well as other problems related to living marine resources and marine geological processes of the Caribbean, Florida and other tropical and subtropical regions of the world. In 1987, CMRC was designated as one of six National Undersea Research Centers under the auspices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Our ultimate goal will be to reach out, not only to all of the schools in Dade County, but the world, with a model of our Green School Project now being created with Dr. Waffa Khali, Chairman Math and Science Department - MAST Academy (Maritime and Science Technology High School), Solar I and Solar II; a model along with our other programs in development, the Earth Scouts + Green Gnome Project, once fully mature, which can deliver the free software and educational instruction regarding the environment and how to create a Green School with academic curricula to even the most modest ‘mud hut’ in an emerging third world culture or the largest urban high school in any given global hub on the Planet.
